Prisoner of Hope

The powerful sequel to Too Tough for Tears.

Prisoner of Hope picks up where Barry Goode’s gritty memoir Too Tough for Tears left off—only this time, the greatest battle isn’t survival on the streets, but surrender of the heart.

Years after walking away from a life of crime and finding faith, Barry is confronted by his past in a way he never expected. Old convictions resurface. Justice comes calling. And Barry faces a choice: hide in the freedom he’s found, or face the consequences of what he once was.

In this honest, often surprising sequel, Barry tells the story of trusting not in the mercy of the system, but in the God who had already changed his life. As he wrestles with the call to account, he also reflects on the darker chapters that shaped him—sharing gripping, never-before-told stories from his years in some of Australia’s toughest prisons.

A powerful reflection on redemption, accountability, and the freedom that only truth can bring.
