Poems That Bring Balm to the Soul

Read. Feel. Reflect. Heal.

My poems have become like children that speak to me each day—each one carrying its own story, emotion and invitation to reflect. What began as a personal journey of expression became an unexpected gift when I discovered that my words could touch the hearts of others.

Within these pages are poems of joy and celebration, written to honour the beauty I see in the lives of friends and loved ones. Others express the deep joy of my relationship with Jesus, my Saviour. Some were written for special occasions, while others came alongside people walking through grief and loss.

And then there are the poems born from pain.

Years after losing my sister to suicide, I found myself writing about that painful journey. Those poems became part of my own healing—a way of processing grief, asking difficult questions and finding words for emotions that can sometimes feel impossible to express.

Poetry has given me a way to reach towards others in the midst of their own difficult circumstances. Because when we encounter words that express what we are feeling, something changes. We realise that someone understands. We realise that we are not alone.

Sometimes the response is tears. And sometimes those tears become the beginning of healing.

The poem Betrayal captures something of that journey:

Gutted now I knew my heart was broken past repair
Struggling now to not despair I stumbled on the stair
Of hope that led to a better place where I could breathe fresh air.

Rosie Reiners is a mother of 4, a grandmother of 13 and now married for 50 years. She was a secondary teacher for 35 years so has influenced 1000’s of students. She had a passion for teaching Biology and Science and loved her students, despite their many diverse personalities and backgrounds. Marriage brings many challenges and she is grateful for a loving husband prepared to invest in her and good outcomes for their life together. Poetry writing has become her passion since 2019.
