Her Name is Grace

Her Name is Grace is a deeply personal and historically rich memoir that invites readers on a journey of faith, heritage, and resilience. Through the lens of her German ancestry, Ingrid Herrmann masterfully weaves together the legacy of the Hermannsburg Mission, the migration of her forebears to South Africa, and her own life experiences across continents.

More than just a personal story, this is a testament to the enduring power of Christian faith passed down through generations — a moving tribute to God’s grace at work in one woman’s life and lineage.

About the author
Ingrid S. Herrmann is the daughter of a German South African farmer and a proud descendant of Huguenots from France, Hermannsburg missionaries, colonists from Lower Saxony, and the “Cotton Germans of Natal.” Alongside her husband, a minister, she has served as a missionary with Operation Mobilisation (OM) in Italy and with Prison Fellowship in Queensland, Australia.

Their ministry journey also included theological studies at George Whitefield College in Muizenberg, Cape Town, and full-time ministry work in Lavender Hill, South Africa. Ingrid is a passionate truth-seeker, author, and speaker. She enjoys reading, gardening, baking, and cooking in her spare time.

Endorsement
“Her Name Is Grace is a wide-ranging and far-reaching story about God’s faithfulness across generations, continents, and individual lives. Part-history, part memoir, part-theological treatise, this unique work traces God’s guiding hand in the life of Ingrid Herrmann and her family, both past and present, weaving together a compelling story of joy, sorrow and redemption. Ingrid issues a clear and, at times, controversial call for believers to open their eyes to the ‘brooding darkness’, but without losing sight of God’s good and wise sovereignty. Read this book; be moved by its story, challenged by its perspective, and most importantly, changed by the grace of God to which Ingrid so beautifully testifies.”
